About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer in the Purchase team at eBay, you will oversee the development and scaling of our cart and checkout systems, leading a team of engineers to deliver seamless, reliable purchasing experiences for our users. You will set architectural directions, lead migration efforts to microservice architectures, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

1. Define architectural strategies and oversee system evolution.
2. Lead migration from monolithic to microservice architecture.
3. Develop high-quality code, conduct reviews, and ensure adherence to standards.
4. Create documentation and technical specifications.
5. Collaborate with product teams to define technical requirements.
6. Participate in setting technical standards and best practices.
7. Mentor and grow engineering talent.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years, Master’s with 9+ years, or 16+ years of experience.
2. 8+ years in object-oriented software development, proficient in C# and .NET Core.
3. Experience with high-volume, high-availability systems.
4. Proficiency in designing microservices in cloud environments.
5. Expertise in RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
6. Knowledge of event streaming technologies like Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ, AzureBus.
7. Experience with application performance monitoring tools.
8. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Additional Details
