Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Open Source Governance within the Engineering Platforms and Experience team. You will design and build tools that help developers evaluate, consume, and contribute to open source. You will lead efforts to improve tooling, security, and developer efficiency.

You will partner with internal teams and external vendors to assess designs, drive adoption of open source practices, and advance the firm’s open source strategy across platforms.

Qualifications

• Formal software/engineering training with 5+ years of experience.
• Strong Python and/or Java programming skills.
• Open source concepts and an open source-first approach.
• Proficient with Git and GitHub workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD, security, and agile methods.
• Hands-on system design and production-grade development.
• Data engineering concepts for deriving insights from datasets.

Responsibilities

• Build tools/platforms to evaluate and manage open source packages for dependencies and contributions.
• Develop and troubleshoot secure, high-quality production code.
• Lead reporting, analytics, and open source metadata tooling.
• Automate remediation to improve software stability.
• Lead architectural reviews with vendors and internal teams.
• Foster communities of practice around open source tech and tooling.
