Job summary

Optivolt is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own the architecture and development of our software platform, spanning web applications, backend services, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and device connectivity.

You will lead a hands-on engineering team, shape technical direction, and ensure reliable, scalable software as we expand solar field deployments. Based in San Francisco, you will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping production software across backend, APIs, cloud infra, and web/mobile apps.
• Experience leading projects from architecture through deployment and owning production reliability.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers and establishing engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering at Optivolt and shape the technical direction.
• Own delivery across the stack from concept to production with cloud services and APIs.
• Build an exceptional installer and customer experience with intuitive debugging and monitoring.
• Foster hardware-software integration through device telemetry and remote diagnostics.
• Set engineering standards for architecture, code review, testing, security, and deployment.
• Scale the platform as deployments grow while maintaining cost efficiency.
• Lead production troubleshooting and root cause analysis across apps and devices.
• Support pilots and new product launches with field feedback guiding development.
• Build and mentor the software team and collaborate with leadership across functions.
