Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, and more.

Consumer Software Engineering focuses on front-end development for Disney’s consumer-facing apps across platforms: iOS, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and web browsers.

As a member of our web team, you’ll build engaging experiences for our streaming product, partner with teams to lead product features from ideation to deployment, and be part of a collaborative, ambitious culture.

The Lead Software Engineer will serve as the technical resource and “go-to” person, solving complex challenges and identifying system improvements.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives and develop core site functionality using JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS.
  • Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and AWS.
  • Collaborate with Product and Leadership on new features and research solutions.
  • Enhance performance and scalability using industry practices.
  • Set standards for code quality and review pull requests.
  • Mentor senior engineers and support production applications at scale.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 7+ years experience in scalable web applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience architecting technical solutions and sharing knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies: JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, NodeJS, AWS.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript workflows (Git, CSS preprocessors, SPA frameworks, Webpack).
  • Proven problem-solving and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead projects, write high-quality documented code, and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with streaming video, data applications, analytics.
  • Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, observability, web performance metrics.
  • Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs.

The salary range varies by location, from approximately $152,200 to $223,600 annually, with additional benefits and incentives.
