Job summary

Selective Insurance Company of America is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive cloud-native claims systems. You will provide technical leadership, design scalable enterprise solutions in .NET and Azure, and mentor teams in modern development practices.

You will champion CI/CD, automated testing, IaC, and secure coding while evaluating AI-enabled capabilities to improve automation and decision support within Claims.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with technical leadership or architecture responsibilities.
• Deep experience with .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, DI, async programming).
• Strong understanding of modern software frameworks, design patterns, and API-first development.
• Azure cloud services and cloud-native architecture experience for secure, scalable apps.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of cloud-native, full-stack apps using .NET and Azure.
• Establish coding standards, reusable design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Champion automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and secure coding.
• Evaluate and support AI-enabled capabilities (Azure AI Services where appropriate).
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers in cloud-native architecture and modern practices.
• Collaborate with product, QA, architecture, security, and operations to deliver business-capable solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve productivity, quality, reliability, and security.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for performance and observability.
