Job summary

Beacon AI, based in the United States, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design and build advanced pilot-assistance software for a safety-focused aviation platform. You will own autonomy features, mentor a small team, and deliver reliable, real-time systems that support human operators.

You will write Python and C++ across autonomy, embedded components, and sensor pipelines, integrate with hardware, and optimize for edge compute while upholding safety standards in production environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and deploying robotic software or embedded systems in production environments.
• Strong C++ and/or Python skills with systems-level or embedded programming experience.
• Experience building real-time or interactive systems for time-sensitive decisions.
• Familiarity with autonomy-related planning, decision-making, or sensor pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with embedded or edge compute platforms and hardware/software debugging.
• Proven ability to deliver complex end-to-end systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy robotic and embedded software powering advanced pilot-assistance systems.
• Own autonomy-related features from concept through deployment with reliability focus.
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality Python and C++ code across autonomy and embedded components.
• Integrate software with hardware, sensors, and perception/data pipelines for operator-in-the-loop decisions.
• Optimize software for edge compute, managing CPU/GPU usage and latency with safety fail-safes.
• Lead testing, validation, and deployment to meet safety-critical requirements.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction through reviews and collaboration.
