Job summary

Rocky Mountain Reserve is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive AI-assisted development in a remote setting. You will write code, set technical direction, and mentor the team as they adopt AI-enabled workflows within a regulated environment handling health and financial data.

You will design, build, and ship features, establish best practices for AI tool use, and own architectural decisions to keep systems secure and scalable while guiding the team through growth and compliance milestones.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Hands-on fluency with AI coding tools in production work — not just experimentation.
• Strong fundamentals in design, testing, code review, and debugging.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
• Experience building and operating production systems handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features using AI-accelerated development workflows.
• Establish best practices for AI-assisted development and code validation.
• Mentor and upskill the engineering team in Claude Code and related tools.
• Own architectural decisions and ensure maintainability, security, and scalability.
• Champion testing, code review, documentation, and observability in AI workflows.
• Work with compliance to meet HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements.
• Contribute to hiring and team growth as the company scales.
