Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Orlando to drive scalable, secure software platforms for Disney Experiences. You will lead cross-functional teams across Java, Node.js, Angular, and AWS, embedding AI-powered tooling and guiding architectural decisions across resort arrival and check-in workflows.

Role requires 7+ years in large-scale software, strong cloud and data-store experience, and a track record of mentoring engineers in fast-paced, distributed environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building large-scale software systems and web applications.
• Strong hands-on skills in Java 21, Spring, Microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js for service and API development.
• Proficiency building Cast-facing and Guest-facing web apps in Angular.
• Deep experience with DynamoDB, Aurora, MySQL, Kafka, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience running and monitoring distributed production systems with observability tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-domain architectural initiatives.
• Experience using enterprise architecture tools like BlueDolphin.
• Hands-on familiarity with AWS cloud platforms and security-by-design.
• Solid understanding of OO design, coding best practices, and Agile/Test-Driven Development.
• Ability to lead complex projects independently and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build scalable software systems and APIs on AWS/cloud-native platforms.
• Champion AI-driven development across the software lifecycle.
• Set architectural direction and align with reference architecture.
• Own tech decisions behind resort arrival and check-in experiences.
• Keep production systems healthy with end-to-end troubleshooting and on-call readiness.
• Drive quality through code reviews, automated testing, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with product owners and operations teams to align solutions with business needs.
• Partner with adjacent tech teams to integrate room readiness and maintenance data.
