Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable, secure solutions within the Global Technology team in New Jersey. You will lead agile initiatives, architect cloud-native systems on AWS, and advance blockchain-based projects on Ethereum.

Responsibilities include building robust backend services, driving code quality, and mentoring teams to adopt AI-assisted development practices for faster delivery and secure outcomes.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience in coding in Java or Python languages.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing and operational stability.
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
• Experience with blockchain technologies, including public chains such as Ethereum.
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling of inputs/outputs.

Responsibilities

• Participates in, design and develop scalable and resilient systems using Java or Python to contribute to continual, iterative improvements for product teams.
• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
• Produces or contributes to architecture and design artifacts for applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
• Designs and implements blockchain-based solutions, including smart contracts and decentralized applications on public chains such as Ethereum.
• Utilizes AWS cloud services to architect, deploy, and manage scalable applications.
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of patterns across the team.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve automation.
