Job summary

Disney Cruise Line – The Walt Disney Company in Glendale, CA is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable microservices in a high-throughput environment. You will lead by example, mentor teammates, translate product needs into robust technical solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Disney's media platforms.

The role requires deep Java expertise, strong SDLC knowledge, and experience with SpringBoot, AWS, and modern DevOps tools.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Java including memory management, multi-threading, profiling, and HTTP protocols.
• Demonstrated analytical / problem-solving skills.
• Great communication and teamwork with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with SpringBoot, DynamoDB, Redis, Kafka/Kinesis, AWS, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Holistic understanding of the domain and serve as a point of contact for stakeholders.
• Lead by example, improve code and design for scalability and decoupling.
• Facilitate discussions and drive clear outcomes.
• Design, implement, and test solutions in a high-throughput microservices environment.
• Understand and use automated tools (AI) while following company policy.
• Translate user stories into actionable tasks and lead team execution.
• Improve observability with metrics, monitoring, and alerts.
• Participate in on-call rotations as per policy.
