Job summary

ByteHire client is seeking a Staff Full-Staff Engineer to shape and deliver a growing healthcare technology platform. This senior role combines hands-on software development with architectural leadership across AI, data, and cloud infrastructure.

You will design full-stack solutions, implement AI-enabled features, and guide best practices while ensuring secure handling of sensitive healthcare information. This position offers autonomy and visibility into platform direction.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong full-stack development skills across TypeScript/Node.js and React.
• Experience deploying AI or LLM-based capabilities within live software products.
• Practical experience with OCR, document extraction, RAG, or AI workflow automation.
• Understanding of how to assess and control the quality of AI-generated results in production.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience, including relational schema design.
• Experience implementing complex business workflows, approval processes, and auditable application logic.

About the role:

Our client is looking for a Staff Full-Staff Engineer to take a central role in shaping and delivering a growing healthcare technology platform.

This is a senior hands-on engineering position with broad responsibility across software development, system design, data, AI, cloud services, and platform reliability. You will be expected to make sound technical decisions, work closely with stakeholders, and help turn evolving business needs into dependable software.

The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working with a high level of autonomy, solving ambiguous problems, and contributing directly to the codebase while also guiding wider technical direction.

Key Experience:

• 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience, including significant responsibility for technical delivery.
• Strong full-stack development skills across TypeScript/Node.js and React.
• Experience deploying AI or LLM-based capabilities within live software products.
• Practical experience with technologies such as OCR, document extraction, RAG, or AI workflow automation.
• Understanding of how to assess and control the quality of AI-generated results in production.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience, including relational schema design.
• Experience implementing complex business workflows, approval processes, and auditable application logic.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience working with sensitive or regulated information, ideally within healthcare or another controlled environment.
• Proven ability to make architectural decisions and take responsibility for production software.
• Comfortable combining hands-on development with senior technical leadership.
• Previous healthcare software experience, particularly clinical documentation, coding, revenue cycle, risk adjustment, or EHR-related systems.
• Experience with GCP services including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, or Vertex AI.
• AWS experience.
• Experience with dbt or modern analytics platforms.
• Background building document-processing solutions using PDF parsing, OCR, and structured extraction.
• Experience with Terraform, CDK, or comparable infrastructure tooling.
• Knowledge of IAM, secrets management, cloud monitoring, and cost optimisation.
• Experience acting as a senior technical lead within a small or growing engineering function.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering tools.
