Job description

We are hiring an experienced and dynamic Lead Software Engineer to spearhead our SAP BTP / CAP Java / Fiori engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development of multiple high-impact services from the ground up within the SAP Business Network. You will be highly involved in every phase of the product development and deployment lifecycle - from initial idea generation, planning, and design, to prototyping, execution, shipping, and continuous iteration.

As a hands‑on Lead Software Engineer, you are a pragmatic problem solver who values clean, effective, and scalable code above all. You will work in close lockstep with our Team Architect and Product Manager, translating complex product roadmap features into modular technical designs and leading your team to successfully deliver them.

  • Collaborate closely with the Team Architect to break down complex product roadmap features into technical components and implement them

  • Tirelessly advocate for coding best practices, automated testing, and code quality to build highly scalable, resilient microservices

  • Partner hand‑in‑glove with Product Managers, QA, UX, and other engineering stakeholders to align on scope, deliverables, and timelines

  • Help the team analyze, research, and solve production issues, customer requests, and inquiries, escalating appropriately when necessary

  • Assess the severity and scope of incoming production problems, maintaining accountability and ownership until they are resolved

  • Efficiently organize, prioritize, and address multiple production challenges from various sources, delegating tasks across the team to optimize output

  • Balance technical excellence with business reality, ensuring timely delivery without compromising on system integrity

  • Foster a collaborative team environment, driving continuous improvement in development processes and technical execution

  • Strong development skills within the SAP BTP/CAP environment, specifically utilizing Fiori‑based development (SAPUI5, oData, and CAP CDS)

  • Deep understanding of software design patterns, enterprise architecture, and data structures

  • Proven familiarity with SAP HANA DB, along with a strong understanding of at least one other relational database management system (RDBMS)

  • Skilled in using development and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Selenium, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Puppet, and Chef

  • Good understanding of deployment environments, application configuration, and change management principles

  • Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Strong knowledge and hands‑on implementation experience of authentication & authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML), third‑party logins is a big plus

  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
