Job summary

State Farm is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines across the full software development lifecycle. You will implement reusable templates, integrate infrastructure-as-code, and ensure secure deployments across dev/test/staging/prod environments, including ephemeral previews.

Focus on embedding security and compliance through SBOMs, provenance, and policy-as-code, while partnering with security, SRE, QA, and product teams to drive measurable

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines and developer delivery workflows across the full SDLC, with deep hands-on expertise in Gitlab/GitHub/GitHub Actions (branch protection, PR workflows, required checks, runners, reusable/composite workflows, release automation, and governance). You will establish Enterprise level reusable pipeline templates and workflow standards, integrate infrastructure-as-code and declarative YAML configurations, and support secure, reliable deployments across environments (dev/test/staging/prod and

ephemeral previews), including containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes. A core responsibility is to embed security, quality, and compliance into delivery through secrets management, least-privilege access, audit logging, supply-chain protections (SBOMs, artifact signing, provenance), and security scanning/policy-as-code—while partnering smoothly with security teams. You will also connect delivery events to operational and planning tools (Slack notifications/approvals/incident alerts and Jira traceability), document platform standards and runbooks, troubleshoot and debug pipeline/deployment failures, and translate platform engineering work into measurable business and delivery impact by collaborating closely with application engineers, SREs, QA, product, and release management.

• Experience building self-service developer platforms or paved-road/golden path delivery workflows and experiences


• Strong judgment around standardization versus team autonomy


• Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive adoption of engineering best practices across teams

• Potential starting salary range: $120,000 - $150,000


• Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience


• High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience


• Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
