Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to develop and maintain the CPC platform, delivering product and parts data to internal digital properties. You’ll collaborate with the CPC team and apply AI/agentic development and spec-driven practices to accelerate delivery and improve quality across the platform.

You will design scalable cloud-native applications on AWS, build RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations, and contribute to automated testing, deployment pipelines,

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, microservices and enterprise backend development.
• Hands-on AWS experience with cloud-native architectures (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, SQS, SNS).
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, service integrations, asynchronous processing and event-driven apps.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, source control, monitoring and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with Agile SDLC and software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, develop, and implement scalable, cloud-native applications and services for enterprise platforms.
• Gather and clarify requirements; resolve workflow challenges through automation and optimization.
• Write high-quality Java code, REST APIs, reusable components, and documentation for new and existing services.
• Leverage automated testing, CI/CD, code-quality tools, and monitoring for quality and deployment validation.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, asynchronous processing, and event-driven integrations.
• Develop and support AWS cloud-native solutions using serverless and container technologies.
