Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Signs and Markings Technician to perform specialized maintenance, asphalt repair, traffic sign and pavement marking tasks within the Transportation Department.

Responsibilities include directing a small crew, preparing equipment, and ensuring work meets city standards while coordinating with team members. A high school diploma, 2 years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in maintenance/repair/installation of traffic signs or pavement markings.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools and MUTCD standards.
• Ability to read maps, plans and blueprints; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and participate in installing and maintaining traffic signs and street markings.
• Assist in truck and paint machine operation; train junior crew members.
• Prepare equipment and materials for sign installs and repairs.
• Ensure safety and adherence to transportation standards during painting and marking.
• Lead small crew tasks, set work pace, and supervise quality control.
