Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a Senior Sign Language Interpreter to coordinate daily interpreter schedules, track service requests, and provide interpreting and transliterating services as needed. You will support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist and mentor interns.

Excellent communication, scheduling, and documentation skills are required, along with relevant certifications and a commitment to professional standards. This is a full-time on-site role within the division.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and American Sign Language (ASL).
• Ability to coordinate schedules and coverages and keep accurate records.
• RID/VA qualifications or equivalent per department requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily and long-term interpreter schedules and coverage.
• Communicate assignments and changes to interpreters and staff.
• Maintain current records of service requests, absences, and costs.
• Provide interpreting/transliteration services as needed in meetings and PD.
• Mentor interpreters and support professional development needs.
