Job summary

NY Sign Art is seeking an experienced Lead Sign Installer to lead field installations, coordinate crews, and ensure signage is installed safely and to approved drawings and project specifications. The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of professional sign installation experience, is comfortable working at heights, reads measurements and drawings, and can operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts.

Willingness to travel across the NY/NJ metropolitan area and complete overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5+ years of professional sign installation experience.
• Experience as Lead Installer, Foreman, or similar leadership role preferred.
• OSHA certification and valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise sign installation crews on commercial projects.
• Install illuminated and non-illuminated signage per drawings.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, installation drawings, elevations, surveys and docs.
• Coordinate with project managers, electricians and other trades on site.

This position is responsible for leading field installations, coordinating installation crews, and ensuring signage is installed safely, accurately, and according to approved drawings and project specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with commercial sign installation, is comfortable working at heights and operating installation equipment, and can independently assess field conditions and solve problems on site.

Position Overview

NY Sign Art is seeking an experienced Lead Sign Installer to join our installation team. This position is responsible for leading field installations, coordinating installation crews, and ensuring signage is installed safely, accurately, and according to approved drawings and project specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with commercial sign installation, is comfortable working at heights and operating installation equipment, and can independently assess field conditions and solve problems on site.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise sign installation crews on commercial projects.
• Install illuminated and non-illuminated signage, including channel letters, dimensional letters, cabinets, blade signs, pylons, monuments, vinyl graphics, ADA/interior signage, and specialty signage.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, installation drawings, elevations, surveys, and construction documents.
• Determine proper mounting methods based on wall and building conditions.
• Perform accurate field measurements and site surveys when required.
• Operate bucket trucks, boom lifts, scissor lifts, ladders, and other installation equipment.
• Perform drilling, anchoring, bolting, fastening, and other installation work.
• Handle basic electrical connections and LED sign components when qualified and permitted.
• Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, electricians, building representatives, and other trades while on site.
• Identify field conditions that conflict with drawings and communicate issues before proceeding.
• Take clear progress and completion photos and provide accurate field reports.
• Maintain company trucks, tools, equipment, and installation materials.
• Ensure installations are level, properly secured, clean, and completed to NY Sign Art quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and professional job site.
• Follow OSHA requirements, fall-protection procedures, lift safety requirements, and company safety policies.
• Train and oversee junior installers and installation helpers.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and make sound field decisions when necessary.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of professional sign installation experience preferred.
• Previous experience as a Lead Installer, Foreman, or similar leadership role strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial sign installation methods and mounting hardware.
• Ability to read measurements, architectural drawings, and sign shop drawings.
• Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts.
• Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience using power tools, drills, rotary hammers, impact drivers, grinders, and other installation equipment.
• Basic fabrication and electrical knowledge is a plus.
• OSHA certification.
• CDL is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean/reliable driving record.
• Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to communicate effectively with customers and project managers.
• Ability to lift and maneuver 50-75+ lbs. as required.
• Must be willing to travel throughout the NY/NJ metropolitan area and work occasional nights, weekends, or overtime depending on project requirements.
