Job summary

Technip Energies in Houston seeks a Lead Shop Coordinator to manage on-specification equipment delivery, coordinate inspection, and support timely project delivery through vendor surveillance and documentation review.

The role partners with QA/QC teams, VPM managers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements throughout fabrication. Expect field leadership and travel across sites to safeguard schedules and performance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a technical field or supplier shop environment.
  • Rotating equipment experience.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards including ANSI B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Sections V and IX, API 510, 570, 620, 650, 936, 963, and AWS D1.1.
  • Welding and manufacturing technology knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of materials and equipment used in fabrication and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working in multicultural, collaborative team environments.
  • Availability to travel approximately 75% of working time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/SCWI) or CWE.
  • NDE Level II Certification (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT).
  • Ability to meet STN-TC-1A visual acuity requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inspection activities with VPM Coordinators, suppliers, and third-party inspection agencies in accordance with ITPs and FQCPs.
  • Obtain and review purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation required to support inspection activities.
  • Conduct on-site supplier inspection and expediting visits.
  • Review and monitor approved shop inspection procedures and quality processes.
  • Examine equipment for compliance with technical specifications, codes, and engineering drawings.
  • Oversee NDE activities including MT, PT, RT, and UT.
  • Witness testing activities and quality hold points as required.
  • Produce inspection deliverables including reports and non-conformance notes.
  • Review and sign manufacturing records including Mill Test Certificates and MDRs.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Monitor supplier fabrication schedules and identify schedule impacts.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and identify quality-related issues.
  • Initiate and follow up on supplier quality concerns with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and coordinate schedule mitigation plans with suppliers and project teams.
  • Perform supplier shop surveys and recertification activities.

Lead Shop Coordinator

Position Summary

The Lead Shop Coordinator is responsible for supporting the on-specification delivery of equipment and materials through supplier quality inspection activities and supporting on-time delivery through expediting activities. The role ensures supplier compliance with contractual quality requirements and supports project delivery through vendor surveillance, inspection, testing, documentation review, schedule monitoring, and supplier performance management.

The position works closely with Vendor Performance Management personnel, suppliers, third-party inspection agencies, Project VPM Managers, QA/QC teams, and project stakeholders to ensure supplied equipment and materials conform to project requirements throughout fabrication and manufacturing activities.

In addition, the Lead Shop Coordinator serves as a field-based leader supporting inspection personnel, coordinating supplier activities, identifying schedule and quality risks, and contributing to successful project delivery through proactive supplier oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inspection activities with VPM Coordinators, suppliers, and third-party inspection agencies in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Fabrication Quality Control Plans (FQCPs)
  • Obtain and review purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation required to support inspection activities
  • Conduct on-site supplier inspection and expediting visits
  • Review and monitor approved shop inspection procedures and quality processes
  • Examine equipment for compliance with technical specifications, codes, and engineering drawings
  • Oversee Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities including MT, PT, RT, and UT
  • Witness testing activities and quality hold points as required
  • Produce inspection deliverables including pre-inspection meeting reports, pre-fabrication meeting reports, inspection reports, expediting reports, flash reports, inspection release notes, supplier punch lists, and non-conformance reports
  • Review and sign applicable manufacturing records including Mill Test Certificates and Manufacturing Data Record Books
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation using approved systems and tools
  • Monitor supplier fabrication schedules and identify schedule impacts
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and identify quality-related issues
  • Initiate and follow up on supplier quality concerns with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and coordinate schedule mitigation plans with suppliers and project teams
  • Perform supplier shop surveys and recertification activities as required

Leadership / Management Responsibilities

  • Act as lead coordinator for seconded inspection personnel supporting supplier activities
  • Coordinate inspection and quality activities among suppliers, contractors, and third-party inspection agencies
  • Provide guidance regarding quality requirements, inspection activities, and supplier compliance expectations
  • Facilitate communication among suppliers, project teams, QA/QC personnel, and VPM management
  • Support supplier and third-party agency performance evaluations
  • Contribute to development and awareness training for junior VPM personnel
  • Coordinate schedule mitigation activities with suppliers and project stakeholders to support successful delivery
  • Promote continuous improvement in supplier quality and performance management processes

Compliance / Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standards
  • Verify supplier adherence to approved fabrication and inspection procedures
  • Maintain compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and certification requirements
  • Ensure quality records, inspection reports, and manufacturing documentation are complete and accurate
  • Support non-conformance management and corrective action processes
  • Ensure timely reporting of schedule and quality risks
  • Maintain organized documentation within approved document management systems
  • Support continuous improvement of supplier quality and inspection processes
  • Ensure inspection and expediting activities are executed in accordance with company procedures and project requirements
