Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation in Slidell, LA seeks a Senior Outfitter to oversee outfitting of vessels, leading a team to install mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while ensuring safety and schedule compliance.

You will interpret blueprints, coordinate with engineering and production, train apprentices, and maintain quality through inspections and reporting on progress, materials, and workforce efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in outfitting or related fields in a shipyard environment.
• Strong knowledge of ship systems, components, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage outfitting operations for shipbuilding projects.
• Coordinate the installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure proper installation of components.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure project specifications are met.
• Conduct inspections of installed systems for quality and compliance.
• Train and mentor junior outfitters and apprentices.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to OSHA regulations.
• Schedule and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving outfitting issues as they arise.
• Prepare reports on project progress, material usage, and workforce efficiency.
