The Lead Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all incoming and outgoing materials in a fast-paced millwork environment. This position ensures that all shipments are properly packaged, documented, and received in a timely manner while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive incoming materials, verify quantities and inspect for damage or discrepancies.
Check shipping documentation such as packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
Accurately report received materials to Purchasing Agent and appropriate production team member.
Prepare outgoing shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, and staging materials.
Assist Purchasing Agent to coordinate freight pickups with carriers and couriers.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of shipping/receiving and storage areas.
Communicate with purchasing, production, and driver departments as needed.
Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory control activities.
Follow company procedures and safety standards at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
1-2 years of experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations, preferably in a millwork or manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with shipping software, inventory systems, and common carriers (FedEx, UPS, LTL freight).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work orders.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Forklift experience required. We certify onsite.
Basic computer literacy (email, spreadsheets, inventory management systems).
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in varying temperatures or conditions.
