Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on ships.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Access to local bases.
  • Must be able to read and interpret NAVSEA drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be able to operate a torch and plasma safely in all positions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain updated safe for hot work ticket and ensure ticket requirements are met.
  • Verify that tank/compartment conditions remain as documented.
  • Ensure Work Authorization Form (WAF) is on site and for the specific job.
  • Comply with safety measures related to the job (staging, protective equipment, etc).
  • Be trained or qualified for the assigned work (e.g., JLG, forklift, welding).
  • Maintain safety and productivity while ensuring quality control.
