General Dynamics NASSCO in Bremerton, WA is seeking a Shipfitter 1st Class to perform work in accordance with NAVSEA drawings and project specifications. You will maintain safety, quality, and productivity while supporting a team of shipfitters on various tank and compartment repairs.
The role requires a high school diploma, at least 5 years on ships, ability to read NAVSEA drawings, operate torch/plasma, bevel edges, and work with little supervision.

Visual Requirements: Must be able to pass a Standard Jaegers Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishiharas Tests for Color Deficiency.
This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Shipfitters and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.
This position reports to Shipfitter Crew Leader, Foreman and General Foreman. Responsible for effective, efficient and safe accomplishment of all assigned tasks.

Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Weekend work and/or extended hours may be required. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
Must be willing to travel, if needed.
This position is part of a newly recognized bargaining unit represented by the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers O& Helpers (IBB).
The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity. At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range. Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.
