Job summary

The Baker Group in Ankeny, IA is seeking a Service Technician Team Leader to lead a crew of 2–8 technicians, perform hands-on service and repair of mechanical equipment, and coordinate with vendors to meet client needs.

You’ll support start-ups, troubleshooting, and PMs, provide coaching and mentorship, and help drive Baker Group’s Client for Life philosophy through quality service and strong client relationships. You’ll work overtime as needed and travel to Iowa worksites as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a five-year Local 33 Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training.
• Demonstrated hand-on experience servicing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Working knowledge of computers and job-related software.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and reinforce Baker Group’s service values, standards, and commitment to exceptional client service.
• Promote client satisfaction by supporting Service Technicians and responding to client questions and service needs.
• Partner with Service Coordinators to assign service calls based on technician skills and client needs.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to team members, including troubleshooting service-call and after-hours issues.
• Support the ongoing development of team members by identifying training needs and providing coaching.
• Conduct annual goal-setting and performance reviews for assigned team members.
• Ensure team members have required safety training and PPE to perform their work safely.
• Monitor PM agreements to ensure work is completed on schedule.
• Coordinate specialized tool and equipment needs for team members.
• Participate in Service Division meetings as requested.
• Assist with estimates and quotes in collaboration with Service Sales.
• Support departmental business, operational, and financial goals with leadership.
