Job summary

City of Cleburne seeks a Senior Planner to perform advanced professional planning work with a focus on long-range planning, policy development, and implementation of major initiatives, including updates to the Comprehensive Plan and Code of Ordinances. This role leads research, analysis, and execution of complex planning projects from concept through adoption.

The Senior Planner also supports current planning functions, serving as the lead case manager for complex development proposals,

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in urban planning or a related field preferred, with three (3) years of professional planning experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field, with four (4) years of professional planning experience; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research, analysis, and execution of complex planning projects from concept through adoption.
  • Support current planning functions and serve as lead case manager for complex development proposals, including zoning and platting.
  • Prepare technical reports, ordinances, and presentations to boards and commissions; facilitate interdepartmental coordination; guide planning staff.
