Job summary

The Washington State Department of Agriculture's Commodity Inspection Division seeks a Seed Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the Purity and Breakdown sections, supervise staff, and ensure adherence to ISO 9001:2015, USDA ASL, AOSA, ISTA, and seed regulatory standards. Qualifications

• Seven years of related laboratory experience including three years at a level equivalent to a Laboratory Technician 1 or higher.
• Joint certification in good standing with AOSA as a CSA, with SCST, RST, or Registered Seed Technologist preferred.
• Current with continued education requirements for membership in related associations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise laboratory technicians and assistants within the Purity and Breakdown sections.
• Plan, schedule, assign and review daily work and ensure SCO/quality targets are met.
• Conduct quality control on samples and respond to fluctuating workloads.
• Review and approve staff timesheets and vouchers for accuracy.
• Serve as liaison with management and stakeholders on laboratory results.
• Participate in ISO and ASL accreditation processes and committee work.
