IES Communications is seeking a Lead Security Systems Technician to act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for security system installations (card access, CCTV, CATV and intrusion systems). Ensure job completion meets quality and safety requirements while maintaining staff efficiency on the project.
The role requires certification in access control systems and ability to read and interpret drawings, with responsibility for leading teams and interfacing with customers on-site.
The Lead Security Systems Technician will act as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for program and installation of Security Systems (Card Access, CCTV, CATV and Intrusion systems) per manufacturer requirements and engineered drawings. The Technician’s task is to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
The Lead Security Systems Technician consistently runs project crews, assumes responsibility for effective performance, provides necessary training, and ensures adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines. Weekly safety meetings are held, performance‑related communications are initiated, and issues are escalated to the Security Systems Project Manager when needed.
Co‑ordination with the SS Project Manager ensures productivity, job completion and compliance with the project budget.
All IES commercial and project paperwork is completed accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and other required documents.
The Technician serves as the main on‑site customer contact for questions and concerns, and attends facility and construction meetings when required.
Technical knowledge of card access, CCTV, CATV and intrusion systems is demonstrated consistently; issues are troubleshot and resolved as they arise.
Other responsibilities are performed as assigned.
Must be certified in the following Access Control systems: C‑Cure 9000, AMAG Symmetry Essentials, Genetec, ProWatch, or S2. Data Center experience, Fiber experience, ACS programming experience, Network experience is highly suggested but not required.
The Technician must be able to lead teams of up to ten technicians and read, comprehend and understand Security, Architectural, and construction drawings.
The Technician must be self‑motivated, positive in approach, professional, and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s). The Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
The Technician must act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representatives, possess proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, and be able to read, write and give oral presentations.
The Technician must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. The Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed is required. Regular attendance is mandatory.
Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in security systems installation.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
Must be proficient in interpreting blueprints, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
Must know the universal communications color codes.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project) and meet company minimum driving standards.
