Job summary

Convergint is seeking a Lead Security Programmer/Commissioning Engineer to lead and deliver complex security projects in our Wisconsin operation. You will manage planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, installation, start-up, and close-out, while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

You’ll mentor teams, coordinate with customers and suppliers, and uphold our values as we drive on-time, on-budget delivery for multi-discipline building automation projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as Lead Security Programmer/Commissioning Engineer in building automation, fire alarm, or AV systems.
• Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
• Strong analytical and cost-control skills.
• Excellent communication and client collaboration.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects (often up to $1M) from award to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Oversee site installation, start-up, and project close-out; coordinate with customers and suppliers.
• Develop detailed project plans; prepare procedures; monitor costs and change orders.
• Prepare schedules, subcontracts, and invoices; assist with collections as needed.
• Identify risks and implement strategies to minimize impact on schedule and budget.

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Lead Security Programmer/ Commissioning Engineer to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, directing, application engineering, budgeting and procurement, as well as managing field installation, start-up, and close out of assigned projects. Ensures projects are effectively executed within budgeted cost, time schedules and ensure positive cash flow. In addition, position is key interface with the customer and responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance on all assigned projects. • Manages many aspects of assigned projects (typically valued up to $1M) from award through completion of project, including: overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget.. Prepares project installation plan, manages the plan and prepares and implements job procedures.
• Translates a variety of customer needs / requirements into detailed proposals and project implementation plans to meet Customer requirements; reviews and approves estimated costs prior to bid; engages in project contract negotiation; provides technical assistance to sales force as and when required; supervises project design engineering; supervises installation labor and subcontractors; prepares project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, project invoices; assists with collections on projects.
• Effectively communicates project requirements to project team and wider organization as and when required, and maintains accurate and up to date records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for processing of internal and external reports.
• Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
• Identifies potential project risks and develops/implements strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
• Proactively communicates project schedules, project change proposals and related project activities on a regular basis with customer and seek to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
• Manages the procurement (including selection) of materials, supplies, services and controls necessary for timely and cost effective completion of project within budget.
• Establish project milestones and analyze costs; Exposure to financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports; identify reasons for low job site productivity and determine impact on the project; adjusts or corrects project plan and/or project cost estimates as necessary to meet financial goals.
• Manage the execution and review of all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts including cost control, delivery fulfillment, quality control standards, quality of service and other customer requirements as they arise.
• Responsible for management of direct reports, if applicable. Manages subcontractor selection process and work.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Lead Security Programmer/ Commissioning Engineer experience in a technical environment (building automation systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems and AV systems).

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

• Associates degree in Engineering or related field

Minimum Experience: 3 years relevant engineering, field service

Preferred Experience (but Not Required)

• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation and/or AV systems
• Previous project supervisory experience
