Job summary

Queens Hospital Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a Supervising Special Officer to oversee security operations and personnel, ensuring safety across assigned locations. Requires experience in law enforcement or security and NYS Peace Officer certification.

Under supervision, you’ll patrol, screen visitors, report incidents, and coordinate with Fire Safety. This on-site role supports patient, visitor and staff safety while upholding agency policies.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent and one year of full-time experience in law enforcement, protection or security.
• IEP diploma and eighteen months of related experience.
• Current New York State Peace Officer certification.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to maintain order and safeguard life and property.
• Screen employees and visitors; operate security equipment and provide routine information.
• Respond to emergencies; assist in Emergency Action Plan implementation and liaise with Fire Safety Directors.
• Prepare and maintain location logs, reports and related documentation.
• Supervise security staff, coordinate assignments and provide training as needed.
• May operate a motor vehicle and support contracted security personnel.
