Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to lead security design and drive secure-by-design practices across Kumo. You will influence product development, mentor engineers, and shape threat modeling and risk-based decision making for a broad set of services.

The role emphasizes Shift Left Security, cross-team collaboration, and clear communication to both technical and non-technical audiences while delivering secure customer solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on security engineering experience.
• 10+ years of risk assessment and enabling organizations making security decisions experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
• Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Bring security expertise into a team of engineers guiding technical decisions as well as prioritization of features.
• Be a hands-on technical leader building and testing the products being designed.
• Partner with engineering leaders across Kumo to reduce the friction for builders to develop services that are secure-by-design.
• Drive security decisions across product development workstreams.
• Developing comprehensive security guidance documentation including policies, procedures and best practices to serve as a reference for the organization.
• Designing and building security tools tailored to the organization’s needs enhancing the overall security posture.
