Job summary

The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at UCLA invites applications for the position of Section Chief of Surgical Critical Care. This is a full-time, tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Level within the Regular series.

The Section Chief will mentor academic physicians and scientists, lead innovative research in surgical and perioperative critical care, and develop novel treatment protocols while pursuing extramural funding and fostering multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent required.
• Board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
• Eligible for California medical licensure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multidisciplinary fellowship program in Critical Care Medicine and medical student rotation in Critical Care Medicine.
• Attend-level staffing of the surgical ICU and collaborate with Anesthesiology’s Division Chief of Critical Care and ICU Co-Director.
• Lead quality improvement programs, case review conferences, standardized order sets, and implementation of best practices.
