Job summary

CD Baby is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Test to shape our automated testing strategy across the member application and marketing site. This hands‑on role combines coding tests with building scalable testing programs, aligning with a move from a .NET monolith to modular services.

You will define the testing framework, build suites, and integrate them into our delivery pipeline while leveraging AI to drive test authoring, maintenance, and coverage. Remote in the US with Pacific‑time overlap.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a deep specialization in test automation.
• Demonstrated track record of architecting a testing practice from early stage to mature — selecting frameworks, building suites, integrating them into CI/CD.
• Phenomenal hands‑on coding ability with production‑quality tests and maintainable code.
• Strong experience with Playwright (or Cypress/Selenium) and clear guidance on usage.
• Deep experience with API testing and contract testing across third‑party seams.
• Experience designing and running performance and load testing programmes with appropriate tooling.
• Hands‑on AI experience applying testing workflows and AI‑assisted test authoring.
• CI/CD integration experience; familiarity with ArgoCD, Kubernetes and containerized test environments is a plus.
• Reading and reasoning about .NET and Next.js codebases; comfort with the codebase is required.
• Clear view on accessibility (WCAG) and usability testing; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi‑year evolution of CD Baby’s automated testing practice—from Playwright‑based today to AI‑augmented testing across a service‑oriented architecture.
• Choose tools for each test layer and articulate why and how they fit together.
• Lead design of CI/CD test integration with ArgoCD and establish fast feedback loops.
• Establish test data strategy and environment management for scalable tests.
