Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead experiments under the direction of the principal investigator in the Center of Excellence in Structural Cell Biology. You will develop protocols, analyze data, and present findings to colleagues.

The role requires a relevant scientific bachelor's degree and extensive research experience; leadership in the lab and opportunities for manuscript authorship are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required.
• Ten (10) years relevant work experience with Bachelor's degree.
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree.
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience with a PhD.

Responsibilities

• Conducts experiments/projects independently under overall direction of the PI and/or more senior scientist.
• Develops new research protocols, techniques and procedures.
• Identifies experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem; processes, summarizes and reports results.
• May publish as co-author and/or draft sections of research manuscripts; presents research to colleagues or at external meetings.
• Provides lab operation support and makes recommendations regarding equipment use and maintenance, supplies, etc.
• Regularly trains and oversees the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to meet department and institutional goals.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
