Zusammenfassung

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, located in Menlo Park, CA, seeks a Staff Scientist to lead the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of the HAXPES/PEEM beamline within the SSRL Materials Science Division.

You will develop an independent research program, collaborate with SSRL users and industrial partners, publish high-impact results, and guide beamline capabilities to advance microelectronics and buried interfaces research.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, materials science, or related discipline, with a minimum of 4 years of post-PhD research experience.
• Demonstrated research excellence in materials science with publications and experimental achievements.
• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with HAXPES and/or PEEM techniques.
• Demonstrated competence in developing, operating, and maintaining complex experimental systems at a synchrotron facility.
• Experience with facility operations and user support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

Aufgaben

• Provide scientific leadership for the beamline design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Develop and lead a research program using HAXPES/PEEM.
• Develop and grow the SSRL user program, guiding beamtime execution and data analysis.
• Manage routine beamline operations and safety compliance.
• Mentor staff and contribute to strategic planning.
