Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, located in Menlo Park, CA, seeks a Staff Scientist to lead the HAXPES/PEEM beamline design, construction, and commissioning, and to drive scientific program development and user support. The role involves leadership across optics, monochromators, and electron analyzer integration within SSRL.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated research excellence in materials science with publications and results.
• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with HAXPES and/or PEEM techniques.
• Experience developing, operating, and maintaining complex experimental systems at a synchrotron facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership for the HAXPES/PEEM beamline design, construction, commissioning, and user support.
• Lead independent research program aligned with SSRL Materials Science Division.
• Develop and grow the HAXPES/PEEM user program and support beamline users.
• Manage routine beamline operations, maintenance, and safety compliance.
