Job summary

Cytiva, a Danaher operating company, in Logan, Utah, is seeking a Lead Scientist to drive technically rigorous development of cell culture media and high-throughput workflows, translating customer needs into robust products.

You will lead projects from concept to scale-up, design experiments in shake flasks and bioreactors, and collaborate with Product, Manufacturing, QC, Regulatory and others to manage risk and deliver outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with 8+ years of experience; or a Master’s with 6+ years; or a PhD with 2+ years.
• Hands‑on experience developing mammalian cell culture media, including formulation, preparation, screening, and performance evaluation using shake‑flask and/or bioreactor models.
• Hands‑on experience with perfusion cell culture at any scale, including experimental design, operation, sampling, data analysis, and interpretation of process performance.
• Proficiency in high‑throughput experimentation and assay development for reliable formulation/process decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, analyze complex datasets using statistics or DOE, and communicate conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Lead cell culture media development programs from concept through formulation optimization, scale-up, tech transfer, and commercialization.
• Design, execute, and interpret cell culture experiments using shake flasks, HTS systems, and bioreactors; apply experimental design and data visualization to inform decisions.
• Develop and optimize media and process strategies for mammalian culture, including perfusion processes at lab, pilot, or manufacturing-relevant scale.
• Serve as technical lead on cross-functional teams, partnering with Product, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and others to manage risk and deliver outcomes.
• Independently identify and solve complex technical problems; document work and present conclusions.
