Job summary

The Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, seeks a Senior Scientific Advisor for Safe Drinking Water Act Programs to join the Office of Water. The role leads time-critical drinking water research and policy development, safeguarding sources of drinking water and guiding implementation of NPDWRs with state and tribal partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics with relevant coursework; or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advise OW senior leadership on scientific and research initiatives related to drinking water quality and safety.
  • Direct and conduct drinking water R&D on health effects, risk assessment, treatment technologies, and analytical methods.
  • Provide science-based research recommendations to align drinking water programs with leadership goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with leading scientists to support priority water health and security efforts.
