Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a Lead Social Worker to oversee school social work services across the district, providing leadership, guidance, and adherence to policies and procedures. Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or closely related field from a Georgia PSC approved college or university.
• Minimum five (5) years of professional social work, counseling, or closely related experience.
• Valid Georgia PSC approved certificate in educational leadership at level L5, NL-5, PL-6, or above; if not held, eligible for the NPL certificate.

Responsibilities

• Manages a functional team within the department.
• Organizes programs and processes, establishes tasks for the team, and sets priorities.
• Works on issues requiring analysis of data and various relevant factors to resolve.
• Identifies and resolves operational issues outside established guidelines; recommends process improvements.
• Leads development and implementation of instructional programs; ensures compliance with educational standards and mentors staff.
• Manages case records accurately and carries out case management duties per policies.
• Coordinates professional learning opportunities for district staff, including in-service training on mental health, identification procedures, and referral processes for students.
• Serves as liaison between students, families, schools, community agencies, and Social Work to facilitate communication and address attendance issues.

Education

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or closely related field from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved college or university

Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level L5, NL-5, PL-6, or above (NPL eligibility if not held)
