Job summary

The State College Area School District is seeking a Food Service Act 93 Manager II to oversee eight elementary school kitchens, ensuring operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations while supporting scratch-cooking initiatives.

The role leads kitchen staff, coordinates menus, safety, sanitation, and nutrition goals, and collaborates with program directors and school administrators. Regular 40-hour weeks with some football-season evenings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred with 3–5 years experience in food service management.
• Working knowledge of quantity food preparation, sanitation, menu planning, inventory control, record keeping, and production schedules.
• Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Knowledgeable in basic nutrition and student wellness; commitment to wellness goals.
• Ability to communicate with staff to maintain standards and a harmonious work environment; trustworthy and dependable.
• Must possess basic computer skills (email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

• Oversees eight elementary school kitchens, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Assists in developing level scratch-cooking programming for elementary programs.
• Leads training, direction, and motivation of staff; conducts evaluations.
• Directs production, equipment use, and safety/sanitation practices with kitchen managers.
• Plans and executes marketing activities to boost customer satisfaction and program perception.
• Coordinates catering for elementary schools and Panorama Village; supports annual in-service training.
• Collaborates with program director, supervisors, and school administrators to achieve goals.
• Leads Summer Lunch Program operations and monthly managers' meetings.
