Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a lead bus driver to coordinate and guide assigned bus drivers while driving a school bus as needed. You will ensure safe, efficient, and on-time transportation for students to and from schools daily.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL with School Bus Certification, and at least two years of experience as a School Bus Driver. A clean driving record and willingness to travel across district routes are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Must maintain acceptable driving record as per NC DMV.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with assigned bus drivers regarding information, instruction, and feedback.
• Respond to transportation concerns with school administration and parents.
• Monitor and coordinate AM/PM bus runs to ensure on-time service.
• Inspect buses and review route paperwork for compliance and safety.
• Deliver buses to maintenance areas as needed.
• Drive routes as needed in the absence of a driver or for field trips.
