Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services in Texas is seeking experienced carpenters to oversee crews that build, position, and dismantle wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.

You will examine materials, measure and cut, assemble scaffolding, and ensure safety rules are followed on site. A high school diploma or equivalent and field experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience.
• Able to follow instructions and guidelines; exercise independent judgement with crew directions.
• Knowledge of safety and project rules; willing to work with carpentry tools.

Responsibilities

• Examines, selects and gathers materials and tools.
• Examines blue prints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
• Inspect base surface for obstructions.
• Loads, transports and unloads material.
• Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, and marks cutting lines.
• Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
• Assembles scaffold containing components to job specs.
• Braces forms and scaffolding to support structures.
• Secures scaffolding to permanent structures.
• Erects scaffolding, installs ladders and walkways.
• Sets and braces anchor bolts.
• May rig materials.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities; adheres to safety rules.
