Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead SCADA & Controls Engineer to join our Energy team. The role supports utility-scale renewable energy, distributed energy, and advanced generation projects through leadership in SCADA, EMS, and systems integration.

You will mentor teams, coordinate with clients and utilities, and advance commissioning activities across multiple sites. Candidates should have a strong background in SCADA/EMS, communication protocols, and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in SCADA/controls or EMS in energy sectors.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (wind/solar/BESS) is preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA).
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of SCADA and control systems for utility-scale renewable energy and distributed energy projects.
• Develop control narratives, sequences of operation, EMS functional specifications, and system design documentation.
• Create SCADA architectures, EMS architectures, communication network diagrams, and system integration drawings.
• Develop interface specifications between EMS, PPC, OEM equipment, utility systems, and plant-level control platforms.
• Support technical reviews, integration testing, validation, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.
