Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches is hiring a Sanitation Collection Driver to operate solid waste trucks and keep our city clean and safe. You will drive different truck types along planned routes, collecting trash and recyclables from residential and commercial sites.

As a working lead on routes, you will guide crew members in proper pickup procedures, perform basic vehicle checks, and assist with recycling tasks using forklifts or skid steers as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least two years of truck driving experience.
• Valid Class B Texas CDL with endorsements required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate solid waste collection trucks along designated routes.
• Safely collect and dispose of residential and commercial garbage, yard waste, and recyclables.
• Serve as a working lead on routes, guiding crew members in pickup procedures.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and minor maintenance for safety.
• Support city recycling efforts using forklifts and skid steers as needed.
