Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a Sanitation Collection Driver to operate solid waste trucks on designated routes and help keep our city clean and safe.

You will drive various trucks, collect residential and commercial waste, and lead on routes while performing basic vehicle inspections. This role supports city recycling efforts and requires good communication and safety practices.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B Texas required.
• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of truck driving.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Waste collection and heavy truck driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safe driving and route technology.

Responsibilities

Now Hiring: Sanitation Collection Driver

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a dependable and dedicated Sanitation Collection Driver to operate solid waste trucks and keep our city clean and safe.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive and operate solid waste collection trucks (including Front-Load Commercial, Residential Side-Load, Roll-Off and Rear-Load Packer trucks) along designated routes.
• Safely collect and dispose of residential and commercial garbage, yard waste, refuse and recycable materials.
• Serve as a working lead on assigned routes, guiding crew members in proper pickup and disposal procedures.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and minor maintenance (check fluids, tire pressure) to ensure equipment safety.
• Support city recycling efforts using equipment like forklifts and skid steers as needed.

Qualifications:

• A valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's license (CDL). (Additional certification pay up to $160.00 per month depending on class and endorsements)
• High school diploma / GED and at least two (2) or more years of truck driving and equipment operation experience.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, work comfortably outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• Previous waste collection and heavy truck driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safe driving practices, mobile technology (iPads/tablets) for route optimization and strong communication skills.
