Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Cashier/Stocker who can act with leadership in the absence of Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Responsibilities include unloading trucks, stocking shelves, assisting customers, and operating the cash register to complete sales with accuracy.

The role emphasizes plan-o-gram maintenance, merchandise presentation, and maintaining store cleanliness and security. Prior supervisory-related experience is preferred, and relocation support is not provided.

Qualifications

• Math, percentages and basic calculations are required.
• Cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposit control knowledge.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions.
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise and rotate on shelves; build displays.
• Restock returned or recovered merchandise.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and answer questions.
• Operate cash register and bag merchandise; provide total and change.
• Ensure a clean, organized store and safe working environment.
• Lead customer service when store manager is absent.
• Maintain store appearance and plan-o-gram implementation.
