Job summary

Fivetran seeks a Sales Engineer to join our Enterprise team. You will work with Sales to understand complex data requirements—spanning ingestion, transformation, and modeling—and demonstrate how the Fivetran + dbt platform enables reliable, end-to-end data pipelines.

You’ll own technical evaluations from proof-of-value to deployment, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and nurture relationships with Enterprise customers and partners like Snowflake, AWS, and Databricks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data replication, sales engineering, or related roles.
• Strong SQL, ETL/ELT, and data modeling experience.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses and modern data analytics tools.

About the Role

We're looking for a Sales Engineer to join our Enterprise sales team. In this role, you'll work closely with Sales to understand Enterprise customers' complex data requirements — spanning ingestion, transformation, and data modeling — and demonstrate how the combined Fivetran + dbt platform helps them build reliable, end-to-end data pipelines. You'll own technical evaluations across the full data lifecycle: from replicating data into the warehouse to transforming it into governed, analytics-ready models with dbt Cloud.

Technologies You'll Use

What You'll Do

• Work with Enterprise customers to understand their business, use cases, and requirements across data replication, transformation, and modeling
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to Enterprise audiences on the full Fivetran + dbt value proposition
• Ensure the technical win by running a tight proof-of-value process spanning ingestion through transformation
• Guide customers through dbt Cloud proof-of-concept implementations, including private-cloud deployments for enterprise clients where applicable
• Work closely with Product and Engineering to align solutions with Enterprise customer needs and inform the dbt Cloud enterprise roadmap
• Develop and maintain relationships with key Enterprise customers and partners (including Snowflake, AWS, Databricks)
• Own the technical relationship across the full customer lifecycle — pre-sale evaluation through adoption and expansion
• Stay current on trends in data movement, transformation, and analytics engineering; be an active participant in the dbt community

Skills We're Looking For

• 7+ years in data replication, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or consulting in data operations, analytics, or BI
• Strong technical background covering database replication, cloud infrastructure, and modern data warehousing architectures
• Hands-on experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, and data modeling
• Experience with modern data analytics technologies, including cloud data warehouses/lakes, transformation tooling (dbt or similar), data catalogs, and BI tools
• Ability to gather and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

Optional Bonus Skills

• Prior experience at an analytics, ETL, BI, or open-source software company
• Hands-on experience with dbt Cloud or dbt Core
• Experience with data modeling methodologies (dimensional, data vault, Kimball, 3NF)
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or traditional Enterprise ETL tooling (Informatica, Boomi, Talend)
• Experience with self-hosted software applications and supporting infrastructure
• Hands-on networking experience, cloud and on-premise

Pay Range

$191,553 — $239,441 USD
