Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing seeks a Lead Safety Representative to oversee field safety for a data center construction project in Sandston, VA. You will act as the onsite lead safety professional, coordinating with the Site Supervisor and Superintendent to drive safety excellence.

You will lead a small safety team, conduct inspections, review JHAs and permits, and ensure OSHA compliance while maintaining a strong field presence and a culture of proactive safety on a fast-paced site.

Qualifications

  • STS-C, CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or acceptable equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of construction safety experience.
  • Previous data center construction experience.
  • Experience leading safety efforts on active construction projects.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and field engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a small onsite team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field safety oversight for active data center construction operations.
  • Lead project safety initiatives while supporting a small onsite safety team.
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas.
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions.
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel.
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

Lead Safety Representative
  • Location: Sandston, VA (15 Minutes from Richmond)
  • Duration: 6 Months (Start: 9/21/2026)
  • Type: 1099 Contractor
Compensation & Schedule
  • Pay Rate: $60/hr
  • Overtime: Additional hours available as project needs dictate
  • Per Diem: None - locals only
  • Completion Bonus: $150/month
  • Pay Frequency: Weekly
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday | 48 Hours/Week
  • Additional Schedule Details: Potential Saturday work (8-hour shifts) as project demands require.

  • Additional BCSP credentials
