Robust AI is seeking a Principal Safety Systems Engineer in California to lead safety strategy for next-gen warehouse robotics. You will own the safety roadmap, set direction, and interact with customers and regulators while coordinating testing and certifications.

The role requires 8+ years in safety engineering, AMR experience, and strong leadership. Expect autonomy in an early-stage environment with competitive compensation and equity options.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in safety systems engineering, preferably robotics (AMRs) with ownership of safety programs.
• Proficiency in safety analysis tools: FTA, FMEA, FMEDA and hazard logs.
• Strong problem-solving, cross-functional leadership, communication and documentation.
• Experience with AMR safety standards (R15.08, ISO 3691-4, ISO 12100).
• Experience leading safety certification with external bodies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the safety and compliance roadmap, setting priorities and technical direction.
• Serve as the subject-matter authority on safety standards across the organization.
• Lead testing strategy and execution with external certification bodies.
• Develop safety requirements, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
• Produce safety case reports and certification documents, maintaining traceability.
