Job summary

ON.energy seeks a Principal RTDS Engineer to lead hardware-in-the-loop testing and real-time simulation initiatives in Houston, TX. You will own the HIL lab architecture, validation strategy, and collaborate with controls, firmware, and product engineering teams to ensure robust testing across storage and power conversion products.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep expertise in RTDS/RSCAD, EMT tools, and experience with CI/test automation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in HIL testing or real-time simulation with leadership experience.
• Expert in offline EMT tools and real-time model validation.
• Experience building/expanding RTDS labs and validating hardware-in-the-loop systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and own HIL and real-time simulation strategy and lab architecture.
• Lead design, procurement, commissioning and expansion of RTDS-based HIL lab.
• Develop real-time models for plant, grid and equipment behavior and set standards.
• Architect test automation and CI for firmware and model releases.
