Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas is seeking an experienced test engineer to own the test strategy for a full microgrid control stack, from firmware through EMS. You will build HIL test benches, automate regression pipelines, and produce evidence for UL 1741-SB and IEEE 1547-2018 acceptance.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in controls testing with hands‑on RTDS/OPAL‑RT experience, strong Python, and familiarity with Modbus/IEC 61850/DNP3.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Electrical/Power/Control Systems Engineering; 4+ years in controls testing, HIL, or commissioning
Hands‑on with RTDS and/or OPAL‑RT, including model build, I/O mapping, and amplifier interfaces
Strong Python scripting; experience with one automation framework (pytest, robot, TestStand, LabVIEW)
Working knowledge of Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 (GOOSE/MMS), DNP3 and how to inject/simulate them in tests
Familiarity with UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547-2018, and FAT/SAT processes for energy storage and microgrids

Responsibilities

Design and operate HIL test benches using RTDS — model power systems, PCS/BESS, and grid scenarios
Define test plans for islanding, blackstart, ride‑through (LVRT/HVRT/FRT), protection coordination, mode transitions, and EMS dispatch
Build automated regression: Python / TestStand / pytest pipelines integrated with Azure DevOps CI/CD; publish coverage and pass/fail dashboards
Run integration tests across different layers validate timing, data contracts, alarm propagation, and failover behavior
Generate certification evidence and test reports for IEEE 1547-2018, UL 1741-SB, and FAT/SAT
Support commissioning and field issues into regression cases
