Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Staff Robotics Simulation Engineer, Hardware in Waltham to advance structural and dynamic simulations for robot hardware. You will perform FEA on components, learn CFD and thermal methods, and support physical testing to improve model fidelity.

You will document analyses, run automation scripts, and collaborate with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to solve hardware challenges with urgency and ownership.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• MS in Mechanical Engineering or Robotics with 2–3+ years in hardware simulation.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Robotics with 5+ years in electromechanical hardware simulation.
• Eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic FEA on robotic components to drive design optimizations.
• Learn CFD and thermal-structural methods for actuator and system-level analysis.
• Support physical testing (strain gauge, accelerometer, thermal imaging) to validate models.
• Document results and communicate findings in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
